Website strategy for Lafayette small businesses

Website Glow-Up Lab

Concept studies showing how clearer messaging, stronger SEO structure, and better design can change the way a small business shows up online.

These are not client results or fake analytics. They are design studies created to show the same principles I use across M. Morgan Design projects: clarity first, SEO structure built in, trust signals placed intentionally, and a clear path for visitors to reach out.

Strategy before design

A pretty website is not always a clear website.

A lot of small business websites have the same problem: the business is good, but the website does not explain the offer clearly enough. The design may be cute, the photos may be nice, but the page still leaves people wondering what to do next.

The Glow-Up Lab is where I break that down. It is part portfolio, part strategy journal, and part proof that website design is more than choosing fonts and colors.

Concept studies

Before, strategy, and redesign direction.

Each example is fictional, but the problems are common for real local businesses.

Concept study 01

Local florist website

For a Lafayette floral studio offering arrangements, events, and custom floral design.

The problem

  • Services were unclear
  • No obvious service area
  • Weak inquiry path
  • Pretty visuals, but not enough trust

The strategy

  • Lead with specific services
  • Add Lafayette and Acadiana location signals
  • Create dedicated sections for weddings, events, and arrangements
  • Use a stronger booking path throughout the page
Before

Beautiful flowers for every occasion.

Weddings, birthdays, events and more.

After

Floral design for weddings, events, and everyday moments in Lafayette.

Custom arrangements, event florals, and thoughtful design for Acadiana celebrations.

Concept study 02

Local bakery website

For a small Lafayette bakery that needs menu visibility, ordering guidance, and a warmer customer path.

The problem

  • Menu and pricing were hard to find
  • No clear order or inquiry path
  • Layout felt cluttered
  • No local SEO structure

The strategy

  • Build around menu, ordering, and events
  • Add local search language naturally
  • Use stronger food photography and simpler sections
  • Make ordering the obvious next step
Before

Homemade baked goods made with love.

Pastries, breads, cakes, and more.

After

Fresh-baked pastries, custom cakes, and local pickup in Lafayette.

View the menu, order for pickup, or inquire about desserts for your next event.

Concept study 03

Service business website

For a home-service business that needs to look legitimate, rank locally, and turn visitors into calls.

The problem

  • Homepage did not say enough
  • Services were grouped too broadly
  • No clear trust signals
  • Google had very little page context

The strategy

  • Create service-specific sections and pages
  • Add location, process, and proof
  • Put contact options higher on the page
  • Use headings that match what customers search
Before

Quality service you can trust.

Professional, reliable, affordable.

After

Reliable home services in Lafayette with clear pricing and fast scheduling.

Service pages, trust signals, local SEO structure, and a contact path built around real inquiries.

How I look at a website

The questions behind the redesign.

Can visitors understand it quickly?

The homepage needs to answer what you do, who it is for, where you are, and what the next step is.

Can Google understand it?

Good headings, service pages, internal links, local language, and crawlable structure help search engines understand the site.

Does it build trust?

Design, photography, copy, proof, and contact details all work together to make a business feel established.
